Louka at the Lava Beds

We came to the Nisga’a Memorial Lava Bed Park on July 1 in 2018, and on July 1 2019 we found ourselves in the same startling moonscape. The most noticeable difference was the change in our canine company; last year we travelled with Orca, and this year we travelled with Louka. Life, love, companions, time – all shift and bend and alter immeasurably; even the hardened magma gives way to new forms and breaks down to feed the next wave of change. We miss you, Orca.
