She never stays away for long; we weave our way between her world and mine.
Every now and then, Firefly asks to come with me on a walk beyond the pasture she lives in with her family. I’m glad we went when we did, because soon after the snow poured down and our gates were buried, our tracks lost. When the cold comes in, the horses seem to prefer to stay close to home and hay bales. But we had a glorious time around Christmas this winter when the snow was light and the weather mild, and Firefly and I had a sweet little explore together in the Great Beyond.
